Statistics from WHO and other reputable organizations have indicated that the prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes in Cameroon has been on a steady rise for the past two decades.
One of Cameroon’s renown Cardiologist and Internist of blessed memory, Professor Wali FT. Muna, MD, PhD, FACC always stated that; “You are your first Doctor.”Throughout his medical career, he organized many workshops on the prevention and control of diabetes, raising awareness on the prevalence of diabetes in Cameroon. This gave him the platform to make recommendations to the government and other stake holders, urging them to invest more in the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Some communities have acknowledged the importance to combat the prevalence of diabetes in rural and urban communities but more still has to be done.
To promote awareness, Microhealth Global Consulting Inc. is launching a competitive Essay Writing Campaign on the prevention and control of diabetes and related diseases.
ESSAY TOPIC:Describe with examples how your role in your community either as a medical professional or an informed individual will help patients diagnosed with diabetes to change their life style, stating both old and new aspects of prevention, management and control of the disease.
